The PCICS International Committee is focused on various key priorities and has several accomplishments to report.
As the International Committee’s main focus is to help enhance pediatric cardiac care without boundaries or borders, in order to improve access and involvement of members from across the globe, we lead the change in PCICS membership dues with a new tiered system reflecting income disparities between different regions of the world. We have also expanded our membership with new nursing members representing a range of nations.
Currently, we are developing PCICS web-based educational resources, extending the current topics to cover those relevant to low- and middle-income countries. We will complete our PCICS statement on global care this year, which will be an open access publication in the journal Cardiology in the Young, covering several topics with an international focus. We are working on sessions at upcoming international meetings to include those focused on global care, and we are working on an international host location for the PCICS 2019 Meeting to be the first PCICS meeting held outside the United States.
Finally, we continue to work to improve our collaboration with international societies with similar interests to expand our community and our reach. Overall, we hope to greatly increase the involvement of our international PCICS membership as our society grows and develops.
