One of the biggest benefits of PCICS membership is the opportunity to serve the society and to create connections, networking and collaborating with so many amazing people who share the same passion – caring for kids with heart disease when they’re at their sickest. Each time I go to a PCICS meeting, there’s so many more friends, colleagues, and connections; it seems like almost no time has passed as you reconnect with people.  There’s great science and invigorating discussions that you can use when you get back to work.  But before you know it, the meeting is over and you’re back to the ICU – real life, the holidays – and you just wanna go back to Miami. This edition of the newsletter really captures a great deal about what makes the Annual Meeting so special. We have a brief meeting recap from the Program Committee, some great photos from the meeting, a social media recap from #PCICS18 and various editorials from different perspectives as other PCICS members reflect on their time in Miami. Please take a look and let this reinvigorate you as you get back to the real world. We also have messages from our new President, John Costello, and Vice President, Melissa Jones. And we have the first new episode of our newly renamed podcast, “The PCICS Podcast,” which will have monthly episodes going forward.

Remember, our Society is driven by the amazing volunteers who give back and participate in all the various committees, interest groups and other initiatives. Please think about getting involved the next time you hear a call for volunteers. And if you have any suggestions for future newsletter editorials or content, please reach out to me at dwerho@rchsd.org.  Finally, I’m happy to welcome two new associate editors to the PCICS Newsletter, Jarrod Knudson and Ivie Esangbedo.
