Outgoing President's Message

PCICS Immediate Past President
It is truly hard to believe how quickly two years has passed and that I am writing this message to PCICS members as I transition to Immediate Past President. It was certainly a busy time, which is why it passed in the blink of an eye. To recap our society’s past year, we created a PCICS scorecard; please take a moment to review our society’s significant forward movement toward our strategic goals if you haven’t already.
It takes a collective effort to make a society like ours flourish, and thanks need to go out to all the volunteers on our Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Committee members, Working Groups, and Special Interest Groups for all your hard work to move PCICS forward. We now have over 1000 members; a significant milestone for the society. Our society flourishes because of its community and its willingness to advance our profession and care for children with heart disease.
While there is still much to do, the new Board of Directors is invigorated, motivated, and eager to work with the ongoing leadership who remain on the Board and Executive Committee. The incoming President, John Costello, and Vice President, Melissa Jones, have a proven track record for outstanding leadership and interprofessional collaboration. PCICS is very lucky to have such a dynamic leadership team and I look forward to continuing to watch our society grow and flourish.
PCICS plays a vital role for our subspecialty and I hope that in 2019, each member finds a way to serve the society that serves you. I thank you all – the members of PCICS – for allowing me to serve you as President. It has been an honor, a joy and an experience that I will always cherish. I have met many new, interesting colleagues, made new friends and enjoyed it to the fullest. I look forward to seeing you all at upcoming PCICS events.
